Varanasi is also known as Kashi, which means city of light. The city is located on the banks of River Ganges. It is famous for its ghats (steps) where people bathe in holy waters.

Varanasi is an ancient city with a rich history. It was founded by King Someshwar I in the 8th century BC. It became the capital of the Hindu empire during the reign of Emperor Ashoka.
Ganga River
Varanasi is located along the banks of the river Ganges. This makes it a popular destination for tourists who come to visit the holy city. There are several places where you can take pictures of the river. Here are some of them.
Sarnath Temple
Sarnath temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Buddha. It was built by Ashoka, the third Mauryan emperor. The temple is situated at a distance of 12 km from Varanasi.
Ghats
Varanasi is famous for ghats (steps) along the river Ganges. These steps were constructed during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar. There are more than 100 ghats in Varanasi. They are very popular among tourists as well as locals.
Ramnagar Fort
Ramnagar fort is located at the banks of River Ganga in Varanasi. This fort was built by Raja Man Singh I in 16th century. It is also known as ‘The City of Temples’.
